El límite Jurásico inferior-Jurásico Medio en la sección de Moyuela (Zaragoza, España)

Abstract

La sección de Moyuela está enclavada dentro del Sector Central de la Rama Aragonesa de la Cordillera Ibérica. Sus condiciones de afloramiento unido al espesor que alcanzan los materiales y una notable riqueza fosilífera hacen de este afloramiento uno de los puntos más idóneos para estudiar el tránsito Jurásico Inferior-Jurásico Medio en esta área de la Cordillera Ibérica. El Toarciense superior y el Aaleniense inferior están representados por una alternancia de calizas y margas correspondientes a la Formación Turmiel. El Aaleniense medio está constituido fundamentalmente por calizas que alternan con delgados niveles de margocalizas pertenecientes a la base de la Formación Chelva. Desde el punto de vista secuencial los materiales de la base del Toarcíense superior (Biozonas Insigne y Pseudoradiosa) se encuentran organizados en secuencias de profundización, mientras que los materiales del resto de la sección corresponden a secuencias de soinerización.

The Moyuela section is located in the Central Sector of the Aragonaise Branch of the Iberian Range. The outcrop conditions coupled with the expanded character of the section and te abundance of fossils make this section nne of the best exposures for studying the Lower-Middle Jurassic boundary in that region of the Iberian Range. The Upper Toarcian and LowerAalenian are represented by an alternance of manís and limestones corresponding to the mrmiel Formation. The Middle Aalenian is represented by limestones alternating with thin beds of marly limestones corresponding to the lower portion of the Chelva Formation. From a sequential point of view, the sediments of te Upper Toarcian (Insigne and Pseudoradiosa Biozones) are organized in deepening-upwards sequences, whereas the remaining sediments of te section are organized in shallowing-upwards sequences. The 61 succesive ammonite assemblages recorded in te section allowed the establishment of a detailed biostratigraphic succession closely matching those established in other sections of the Iberian Range and west Europe. Within the Toarcian, the Insigne Biozone has been partially identified. In turn, the Pseudoradiosa Biozone (Levesquei and Pseudoradiosa Subbiozo~ nes) and Aalensis Biozone (Mactra, Aalensis anó Buckmani Subbiozones) have been fully characterized. ]n the Aalenian, the Opalinum Biozone, (Opalinum and Comptum Subbiozones) and the Murchisonae and Bradfordensis Biozones have been characterized. Tbk sequence is capped by a limestones level containing reelaborated ammonites characteristic of the Concavum Biozone, which might most probably correspond to the Discites Biozone of the Lower Bajocian.
