Abstract
Pedro González de Mendoza, cardinal and archbishop of Toledo, was a charismatic and highly influential character during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs. The objective of this thesis is to study his artistic concerns and the interventions that he orchestrated in the most privileged space of the primal seat during his archbishopric (1482-1495), under one of the political and religious strategies that responded to the perpetuation of his fame and post-mortem memory. Numerous works have individually addressed its patronage in the cathedral (the choir, the chancel, the delivery of liturgical jewelry, in illuminated books, etc.), in general, in an individual and atomized way. Our research presents a holistic and renewed perspective of the prelate's actions, linking, in our discourse, these elements of different nature and materiality and the ceremonies and liturgical rites, that is, the perennial with the ephemeral...
