Abstract
La esclerosis múltiple (EM) es una enfermedad inflamatoria y desmielinizante que afecta al sistema nervioso central (SNC). Su etiología sigue siendo desconocida aunque se considera una enfermedad multifactorial, en la que factores genéticos y ambientales generan una disfunción del sistema inmune que termina ocasionando inflamación y neurodegeneración. La vitamina D (VD) es un factor ambiental relacionado con la EM que tiene un papel inmuno-regulador importante favoreciendo acciones antiinflamatorias sobre el sistema inmune, tales como producción de citoquinas antiinflamatorias(IL-4, IL10, TGF-β), reducción de citoquinas pro-inflamatorias (IL-12,IL17, IFN-γ) y modular la respuesta celular T hacia un fenotipo inmuno-regulador...
