Abstract
Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) in 2022 is ranked sixteenth globally in terms of incidence and fifteenth in terms of mortality, which is why it represents a significant percentage of global cancer, being the most common malignant tumor of the upper aerodigestive tract. 1OSCC is characterized by a natural progression of the disease towards the cervical lymph nodes (regional disease). Correct staging of cervical lymph node extension is the factor with the greatest prognostic value in terms of survival and occurs in 20-30% of tumors in early stages, implying a significant decrease in life expectancy. Currently, cervical emptying is considered the therapeutic option of choice. However,70-80% of clinical-radiological N0 necks do not present cervical metastases in the subsequent histopathological study, and cervical dissection can be considered in these cases as overtreatment...
