dc.description.abstractEl punto de partida de este proyecto de investigación es el paleoarte como disciplina artística y método para reconstruir la apariencia en vida de los animales del pasado. Como objetivos de la presente tesis se propuso inicialmente profundizar en la metodología de reconstrucción y creación paleoartística aplicada a las faunas de mamíferos del Mioceno ibérico. Antes de comenzar la investigación para esta tesis, pocos autores habían profundizado sobre la teoría, marco conceptual e historia del paleoarte. Debido a esta carencia de conocimiento teórico sobre el paleoarte como arte en sí mismo, se hizo necesario el realizar una profunda investigación sobre teoría e historia del paleoarte. El término paleoarte se originó a finales de la década de los 80s y ha venido popularizándose exponencialmente en las últimas décadas. No obstante, se carecía de un consenso o definición sobre el propio paleoarte y los trabajos, aunque monográficos, eran serios pero escasos.Por ello en el inicio de la labor investigadora de esta tesis era imperativo el ahondar en la teoría del paleoarte y llegar a una definición del mismo...
dc.description.abstractThe starting point of this research project is paleoart as an artistic discipline and the methodology to reconstruct the anatomy of the animals from the past. The aims of this PhD project originally comprised the methodology of reconstruction and paleoartistic creation applied to mammalian fauna of the Iberian Miocene.Previously to our research, few authors had deepened on paleoart theory, conceptual framework, and history. Due to this lack of theoretical knowledge about paleoart as a properly recognized art in itself, it was necessary to conduct a profound research on paleoart theory and history. The word paleoart has its origins in the late 80s of the XXth century and has becomeexponentially popular in recent decades. However, there was a lack of consensus or a definition about paleoart itself. And the manuscripts, although monographic, were solid but scarce.The first two chapters of this PhD dissertation are focused on paleoart itself. The first one is an initial approximation to paleoart theory. In this chapter, paleoart as element, paleoart origins, and the present state of paleoart are discussed.
