Abstract
El periodo correspondiente a la Segunda República y la Guerra Civil española resultó ser muy prolífico en cuanto a la producción fotográfica de muchos profesionales del gremio. Entre ellos, uno de los más destacados fue Martín Santos Yubero, uno de los fotógrafos más importantes de Madrid. El trabajo de Santos Yubero se caracterizó por plasmar, no solo los eventos más importantes de la historia contemporánea madrileña, sino además su cotidianidad. Trabajó en el periódico Ya desde 1935 a 1974, ocupando primero el puesto de fotógrafo y luego de jefe de información gráfica. En una época en la que los conflictos en Madrid eran frecuentes, a causa de la radicalización de ambos grupos de izquierda y derecha, Santos Yubero pudo fotografiar el día a día de los madrileños, tales como las corridas de toros, a los milicianos, las costureras, vendedoras de castañas, niñeras, aguadores, entre otros oficios, que demostraban la determinación de los ciudadanos para mantener su vida lo más moral posible, aun con las circunstancias que vivían. En este sentido, con la presente tesis doctoral se propone el objetivo de dar a conocer a la comunidad científica los oficios en Madrid entre los años 1935 y 1936, que comprenden parte de la II República y principios de la Guerra Civil Española, así como el desarrollo de la profesión de fotoperiodista de Martín Santos Yubero y su relación con Madrid...
The period corresponding to the Second Republic and the Spanish Civil War turned out to be very prolific in terms of the photographic production of many professionals in the trade. Among them, one of the most prominent was Martín Santos Yubero, one of the most important photographers in Madrid. Santos Yubero's work was characterized by capturing not only the most important events in contemporary Madrid history, but also its daily life. Martín Santos Yubero worked in the newspaper Ya from 1935 to 1974, first occupying the position of photographer and then head of graphic information. At a time when conflicts in Madrid were frequent, due to the radicalization of both left and right groups, Santos Yubero was able to photograph the daily life of the people of Madrid, suchas bullfights, militiamen, seamstresses, chestnut sellers, nannies, water carriers, among other trades, which demonstrated the determination of citizens to keep their lives as moral as possible, even with the circumstances they lived. In this sense, with this doctoral thesis the objective is to make known to the scientific community the trades in Madrid between the years 1935 and 1936, which comprise part of the Second Republic and the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, as well as the development of the profession of photojournalist of Martín Santos Yubero and his relationship with Madrid...
