Historia y usos de la locución «sobre que» : del español clásico al español moderno

Abstract

RESUMEN: Estudiamos en este trabajo el desarrollo las locuciones conjuntivas y marcadores discursivos creados sobre la preposición «sobre» a partir de los valores no locativos de esta preposición. Dejando aparte un tímido desarrollo de valores causales y consecutivos desde el valor de indicación de tema ‘acerca de’, que no prosperan más allá del siglo XVII, nos centramos en la utilización de «sobre que» como locución concesiva, uso solo documentado en el XVI, y locución de carácter aditivo, ‘además de’, ‘aparte de’, que partiendo de usos previos con término no oracional, se documentan a partir del siglo XVIII y prácticamente desaparecen en el siglo XX, aunque presentan alguna vitalidad dialectal. Estudiamos también el uso de «sobre que» como marcador veritativo de carácter enfático entre los siglos XVI y XIX. Proponemos una explicación para el origen de estos usos y señalamos la conveniencia de estudiar la historia de construcciones que han tenido cierto desarrollo en un determinado momento y han desaparecido o mantenido una existencia residual posteriormente, lo que ayuda a ver las posibilidades, vías de evolución y contienda con otras expresiones en el sistema de la lengua.ABSTRACT: In this paper we study the development of conjunctive locutions and discourse markers created on the preposition «sobre» from the non-locative values of this preposition. Leaving aside a hesitant development of causative and consecutive values from the value of indication of subject ‘about’, which do not prosper beyond the 17th century, we focus on the use of «sobre que» as a concessive locution, a use only documented in the 16th century; and as an additive locution, ‘besides’, ‘apart from’, which, based on previous uses with a non-sentential term, are documented from the 18th century and practically disappear in the 20th century, although they present some dialectal vitality. We also study the use of «sobre que» as an emphatic truth marker between the 16th and 19th centuries. We propose an explanation for the origin of these uses and point out the convenience of studying the history of constructions which have had a certain development at a certain moment and have disappeared or maintained a residual existence later, which helps to see the possibilities, ways of evolution and competition with other expressions in the language system.
