Abstract
El presente trabajo estudia de manera metódica y exhaustiva la obra artística del pintor José Luis Gómez Perales (1923-2008), representante de la Abstracción Geométrica en España. A través de su obra, sus exposiciones y las críticas recibidas, vamos perfilando la figura de este autor, a menudo silenciado por la historiografía del arte del siglo XX. El ejercicio dela docencia, a la que dedicó gran parte de su vida, coexistió con su trabajo plástico, lo que le supuso cierto distanciamiento de los círculos artísticos al no depender exclusivamente de su producción pictórica. Tanto su participación a finales de la década de 1960 en la pionera experiencia del Seminario de Análisis y Generación Automática de Formas Plásticas, del Centro de Cálculo de la Universidad de Madrid, como la singularidad de su obra más constructivista –las construcciones moduladas– le convirtieron en un referente entre la generación de artistas geométricos que surgió en la España de los años cincuenta y con quienes expuso en numerosasocasiones en otras tantas muestras dentro y fuera del país...
This work studies methodically and exhaustively the artistic work of the painter José Luis Gómez Perales (1923-2008), representative of Geometric Abstraction in Spain. Through his work, his exhibitions and the criticism received, the figure of this author, often silenced by the art historiography of the twentieth century, is outlined. His practice ofteaching, to which he devoted much of his life, coexisted with his artistic work, and this meant a certain distance from the artistic circles, as he did not depend exclusively on his artistic production. At the end of the 1960s, he participated in the «Seminar of Analysis and Automatic Generation of Plastic Forms» (Seminario de Análisis y generación automática de formas plásticas) a project of the Centro de Cálculo of the University of Madrid, a pioneering experience in those times. In addition to that, the singularity of his most constructivist works, the Construcciones moduladas, made Gómez Perales a reference among the generation of geometric artists who arose in Spain in the 1950s. He participated on numerous exhibitions with different artists of this movement, both in Spain and in other countries...
