Herencia y cáncer

Abstract

El cáncer es una de las patologías con mayor incidencia en la sociedad actual. Se trata de una enfermedad multifactorial que puede desarrollarse como un hecho esporádico o de carácter hereditario. En este trabajo, se analizan los síndromes hereditarios que pueden conllevar al desarrollo de un cáncer de mama o de colon, sus variantes, así como la estructura y función de los genes alterados: BRCA 1 y 2 para la afección mamaria y genes del sistema MMR junto con el gen APC para la colorrectal. Además, se presentan los métodos de diagnóstico y posibles tratamientos, haciendo especial mención a la labor de los consejos genéticos a la hora de establecer la condición hereditaria de dichos carcinomas y el seguimiento clínico de los mismos.

Cancer is one of the pathologies with highest incidence in today´s society. It is a multifactorial disease that can be developed as an eventual occurrence or a hereditary process. In this project, we analyze the hereditary syndromes that can lead to the development of breast or colon cancer, its variants, as well as the structure and function of the altered genes: BRCA 1 and 2 for the mammary condition and MMR system genes along with the APC gene for colorectal illness. Besides, the methods of diagnosis and possible treatments are presented. Making special mention of the work of the genetic councils is made in establishing the hereditary condition of these carcinomas and the follow-up of them.
