Abstract

La dirección artística de festivales de artes escénicas es una investigación sobre la fundamentación artística del concepto de festival. El punto de partida se sitúa en la constatación de que, a pesar de su característica como territorio diferenciado, con sus propias dinámicas y fácilmente reconocible, incluso por el gran público, no existe un acuerdo generalizado sobre la definición del concepto de festival en las artes escénicas. En muchos casos, ni siquiera se identifica como parte del sistema teatral ―en el que desempeña un papel fundamental más allá del de contenedor de representaciones― y, a menudo, se obvia su condiciónartística. La mayor parte de los estudios que abordan la situación de los festivales lo hacen desde perspectivas ajenas al ámbito artístico, cuando, en realidad, este constituye la característica fundamental que los conforma y les da sentido. The artistic direction of performing arts festivals is research on the artistic foundation of the festival concept. The starting point is located in the verification that, despite its characteristic as a differentiated territory, with its own dynamics and easily recognizable, even by the general public, there is no general agreement on the definition of the festival concept in the performing arts. In many cases, it is not even identified as part of the theatrical system ―in which it plays a fundamental role beyond that of container of representations― and its artistic condition is often ignored.
