Fotografía e intervención grupal con mujeres con fibromialgia

Abstract

La fibromialgia en la mujer produce cambios sustanciales en su vida. Por ello, es necesario abordarlos junto a un grupo de personas que lo comprendan. La intervención grupal junto a la fotografía lleva a las participantes a reflexionar, debatir y exponer su situación. Estas se convierten en las herramientas necesarias para reiniciar aquellas actividades y recuperar aquellos espacios que inintencionadamente abandonaron. Lo que puede ser un comienzo para la reconstrucción del estilo de vida que llevaban anteriormente y que se habían visto forzadas a abandonar. Les permite empoderarse y tomar las riendas frente a la patología. Además, con la exposición de las fotografías emprenden un proceso de visibilización, denuncia y cambio social.

Fibromyalgia produces substantial changes in women’s lives. It is not only important - but necessary - to address it with a group of people who understand the illness. Group intervention, together with photography, lead participants to think about, debate and present their situation. They become the necessary tools to restart those activities and to retake the spaces that they had unintentionally abandoned. It can be the first step of the reconstruction of the lifestyle that they used to have - and had been forced to abandon due to the sickness. It allows them to take the reins and become empowered in front of the pathology. Furthermore, with the exhibition of the photographs, they can begin a process of visibility, protest, and social change.
