La cerámica pleno y bajomedieval de la ciudad de Guadalajara

Abstract

El tema sobre el que versa la Tesis Doctoral tiene por título "La cerámica pleno y bajomedieval de la ciudad de Guadalajara". La elección de este tema de investigación no sólo es el resultado de varios factores personales y/o académicos, sino que tiene un profundo trasfondo científico: el gran vacío documental que existe en torno a la cuestión de la cerámica encuadrada en el periodo medieval cristiano en el ámbito geográfico del valle del río Henares. En lo que se refiere a los objetivos del presente trabajo de investigación, existen varios puntos esenciales sobre los que se construyó la Tesis Doctoral. Asimismo, a medida que se avanzaba en el proceso deductivo, surgieron nuevos propósitos secundarios que se desprendían directamente de los primigenios. The present PhD dissertation addresses the study of the Christian Medieval pottery in the city of Guadalajara and the noteworthy lack of archaeological information on this topic. It attempts to fill the gap of the pottery typology in this period and area through multidisciplinary research, from observational to archaeometry analyses, to provide a complete taxonomy and a reliable source of data. The main research goal has been to assemble a whole pottery typology related to the Guadalajara city, collecting 243 pieces of pottery from the regional museum and classifying them by shape and finishing (glazing and decoration). Aside from this main research goal, four other targets have been addressed. The second and third ones consisted of pointing to Guadalajara as the producing centre of pottery within the area, discarding the Crown of Aragon as the primary supplier of these products. Those two points converge as an attempt to identify Guadalajara as an independent point of production away from other influences. The fourth objective was the employ of archaeometry and data-based analyses based on X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (MEB), and Petrographic Microscope (PM) to chase the chemical origin of the clay, as well as the observational of the pieces to identify the moulding and firing techniques.
