La elevada morbimortalidad de los pacientes en diálisis se ha relacionado con la retención de una gran variedad de toxinas urémicas. La hemodiafiltración on-line (HDF-OL) post-dilución con altos volúmenes de sustitución se considera la técnica más eficiente en la eliminación de solutos y se asocia a una mejoría en la supervivencia respecto a la hemodiálisis (HD) convencional. Cada vez existe más evidencia de que los beneficios de la HDF-OL se relacionan directamente con la cantidad de transporte convectivo, probablemente por una mayor depuración de toxinas urémicas, por lo que se han propuesto unos objetivos mínimos de volumen de sustitución para conseguir una reducción significativa en la mortalidad...
The elevated mortality rates of patients on dialysis have been related to the retention of a wide variety of uremic toxins. Post-dilution online hemodiafiltration (OL-HDF) with high substitution volumes is recognized as the most efficient therapy for solute elimination, and it has been associated with improved patient survival compared to conventional hemodialysis (HD).
