La taxonomía siempre ha generado debate y controversias debido a lo difícil de separar, en algunos casos, grupos de animales muy emparentados o con ancestros muy cercanos. Es mucho más complejo y difícil, cuando se trata de animales que ya no existen y de los cuales solo quedan sus fósiles. Esta tesis pretende ser de ayuda para aportar en la discusión de la clasificación de los gonfoterios americanos, mediante el uso de tres técnicas de análisis del material fósil: espectro del colágeno (I), histomorfometría por medio de láminas delgadas y morfometría geométrica de los terceros molares inferiores...

Taxonomy has always generated discussion and controversy due to the difficulty of separating, in some cases, groups of animals very related or with very close ancestors.
