La dramaturgia de la imagen en el teatro multimedia de Katie Mitchell

Abstract

El objeto de este análisis se centra en las escenificaciones multimedia teatrales de la directora británica Katie Mitchell, desde Waves (2006) hasta La maladie de la mort (2018). El interés radica en la derivación de una consolidada carrera teatral hacia el uso del lenguaje cinematográfico y de los recursos audiovisuales en la escena.El objetivo principal ha sido analizar la dramaturgia de la imagen en los 13 montajes multimedia de la directora con el fin de ofrecer un mayor acercamiento a su singular poética y de constatar su aportación a las Artes Escénicas. En el escenario se dan cita elementos de procedencia diversa, aquellos para la realización de una producción fílmica con otros más propios del tradicional arte escénico; unos y otros se engranan para transmitir las ideas subyacentes en el texto dramático y transformar la dramaturgia en espectáculo. El eje de la investigación se centra precisamente en este intercambio de lenguajes y en su influencia sobre el proceso de creación teatral.

The purpose of this analysis focuses on Katie Mitchell’s multimedia productions, from Waves (2006) till La maladie de la mort (2018). The interest lies in the derivation of a consolidated theatrical career towards the use of cinematographic language and audiovisual resources on the stage. The main objective has been to analyse Katie Mitchell’s 13 multimedia productions in order to offer a closer look at the director’s poetic expertise, as well as her contribution to the Performing Arts. On the stage, different elements come together, those necessary for the creation of a film production and those specific of the Performing Arts; they are geared to transmit the underlying ideas in the dramatic text and transform the text into a theatrical event.
