Nos libera su emoción al enterarse, el 15 de abril de 2019, del drama que amenazaba con destruir un símbolo francés pero también universal. La famosa aguja de Eugène Viollet-le-Duc tiende a derrumbarse, el fuego consume una joya que todos creíamos eterna, las llamas devastan una gran parte del tejado y rodean las dos torres gemelas. Entonces, Ken Follett señala que este día permanecerá en la mente puesto que descubrimos que Notre-Dame, un monumento tan emblemático y simbólico, era destructible por el fuego.
