Abstract
A previously healthy 18-year-old girl was involved in a high-energy motor vehicle crash, was not wearing her seat belt, and was thrown from the car. She was immediately transferred to the emergency department, complaining of severe back pain and having complete paraplegia and anesthesia of her lower extremities. The physical examination at admission revealed stable vital signs and no palpable deformity. Radiographs and computed tomography (CT) were performed.
