Abstract
El objetivo de este trabajo es demostrar la pérdida de valor de la industria automotora en el Gran ABC Paulista, Brasil, motor del crecimiento económico brasileño antes de la liberalización comercial y financiera de los 1990. A partir de la metodología histórico-estructural, en la tradición latinoamericana de los estudios centro y periferia, se evidencia que en las últimas tres décadas la Región ha sufrido una reconfiguración productiva, en la que la industria automotora se redujo considerablemente, no sólo por las crisis económicas internas, sino también por las decisiones de gobernanza de las cadenas de valor de las grandes automotoras extranjeras.
The objective of this paper is to demonstrate the loss of value of the automobile industry in the Greater ABC Paulista, Brazil, which was the engine of Brazilian economic growth prior to the economic and financial liberalization of the 1990s. Based on historicalstructural methodology, in the Latin American tradition of center and periphery studies, it is evident that in the last three decades, the region has undergone a productive reconfiguration, in which the automotive industry has shrunk considerably, not only because of domestic economic crises, but also due to governance decisions in the value chains of the major foreign automakers
