Abstract
Under the title of Álbum de Príapo hides an anthology of clandestine erotic poetry printed in the mid-19th century, the only copy of which is kept in the library of the Royal Spanish Academy. The book follows the same composition technique used in traditional songbook it brings together poems (which do not have to be songs despite their name) by different authors, both contemporaries of the publisher himself and from the previous tradition, so it is common for the same compositions to be repeated in other similar anthologies. In the 19th century, numerous erotic songbooks or anthologies were published that sought to satisfy the morbidity of a reader avid for provocations who understood sexual pleasure as a way of life. And if provoking the reader is what it is about, its content, in a broad sense, tries not to disappoint, inasmuch as it seeks to seduce a diverse group of readers. On the one hand, these anthologies aspire to be authentic encyclopedias of transgressive sexual content of traditional morality; and on the other, they try to find the reader's smile, which is why they bring together mockery, satire and the erotic-festive in the same book. In general, these books are currently difficult to access (practically non-existent in public libraries), quite unknown (in many of them only the title is known), and they were published with missing or falsified printing data and with few circulations; but, contrary to what is commonly believed, they had good dissemination and circulation in their time...
