Abstract
In this article I analyse two different interpretations of Wittgenstein’s remarks on following rules, bedrocks and creativity and the consequences of the transfer of these concepts to the socio-political realm. The first interpretation is the quietist or behaviorist one and its related conservative view, which is represented here by J.C. Nyíri and Meredith Williams. The second one is the polemist one and its related progressive view, which is represented here by Jose Medina and Peg O'Connor. After explaining and contrasting these two interpretations, I consider which one can be said to be more accurate in contrast with Wittgenstein's work and when applied to our present political situations
