La palabra “metaxy” es una preposición griega que significa “entre”. Particularmente, entendemos la metaxis en términos de la liminalidad, de latín “līmen”, que significa “umbral”. The word “metaxy” is a Greek preposition meaning “between.” We understand metaxis precisely in terms of liminality, from the Latin “līmen”, meaning“threshold”. During the liminal stage of a ritual, participants find themselves between their previous manner of structuring identity, time or community and a new way of being, which is established at the end of the rite. Liminality points to intermediate situations and conditions in which established structures are dislocated, hierarchies are inverted, and traditional scenarios of authority are jeopardized. Posed as a threshold, liminality also refers to a vital moment of creativity and a potential platform employed in the renewal of social structures...
