La imagen del artista en el cine: vitae, mito y perfiles de pintores, escultores y arquitectos

Abstract

El “cine de artistas” es el resultado de la confluencia, por una parte, de la continua relación entre las artes plásticas y el arte cinematográfico desde que éste nació en 1895 (vanguardia, séptimo arte, influencias pictóricas, escenografía y decorados, documentalesde arte…); y, por otra, del constante interés histórico por representar la imagen del artista (retratos y autorretratos) y por narrar sus vidas y sus anécdotas (literatura artística, novela histórica, teatro, ópera, fotografía…). Si bien la historiografía se ha extendido en el estudio de las relaciones entre cine y artes plásticas, el personaje del artista plástico no ha sido un tema frecuente. No se puede hablar de un género, si exceptuamos las películas sobre biografías de artistas (biopics), pero el cine con artistas recorre todos los géneros (comedia, drama, terror, thriller…) y todas las épocas...

The "cinema of artists" is the result of the confluence, on the one hand, of the continuous relationship between the plastic arts and cinematographic art since it was born in 1895 (avant-garde, seventh art, pictorial influences, scenery and sets, documentaries of art…); and, on the other hand, of the constant historical interest in representing the artist's image (portraits and self-portraits), their lives and anecdotes (artistic literature, historical novel, theatre, opera, photography ...). Although historiography has been based on the study of the relationship between cinema and plastic arts, the character of the plastic artist has not been a frequent topic. It is not about a specific genre (except for films about biographies of artists or biopics) because artists appear in all cinema genres (comedy, drama, horror, thriller ...) regardless of the period...
