El asma es una enfermedad respiratoria crónica que afecta a millones de personas en todo el mundo y constituye un problema significativo de salud pública debido a su alta prevalencia, su impacto negativo en la calidad de vida y los considerables costos económicos asociados. En España, entre 2011 y 2020, se ha observado una necesidad creciente de comprender mejor los patrones de incidencia, las condiciones clínicas, y los resultados hospitalarios en niños hospitalizados con asma, incluyendo el uso de ventilación mecánica, la duración de la estancia hospitalaria (LOHS) y la mortalidad hospitalaria (IHM).
