Los Reales Sitios a través de la narrativa del siglo XIX

Abstract

Los Sitios Reales son espacios cuya riqueza, complejidad y diversidad los hacen ser reflejo de cada una de las épocas vividas, no sólo desde su importancia estratégica e histórica, o por su privilegiada relación con el entorno natural, sino también como reflejo de las inquietudes de una sociedad y un tiempo. El Palacio Real de Madrid, El Real Sitio de Aranjuez, El Escorial, el Buen Retiro… son solo algunos ejemplos de esos Sitios Reales que contribuyeron a la configuración del ideal de la Monarquía Hispánica a lo largo de la historia. Sin embargo, la caída del llamado Antiguo Régimen y las aspiraciones liberales que se suceden a lo largo de todo el siglo XIX propiciaron una nueva concepción de la Monarquía y, por tanto, de los Reales Sitios. En el siglo XIX, literatura, sea cual sea el género o corriente, y arte, tanto en sus monumentos artísticos como en cualquiera de sus representaciones, suponen documentos vivos que reflejan una forma de pensar y proponen un modelo de comportamiento de la época.

The Royal Sites are places, whose richness, complexity and diversity make them be a reflection of each of the lived times, not only from its strategic and historical importance, or its privileged relationship with the natural environment, but also reflecting concerns of a society and a time. The Royal Palace of Madrid, Royal Site of Aranjuez, El Escorial, El Buen Retiro ... are just some examples of those Real Sites that contributed to the ideal of the Spanish Monarchy throughout history. However, the fall of the Ancien Régime and liberal aspirations that occur throughout the nineteenth century led to a new conception of the Monarchy and, therefore with it, of the Royal Sites. From all these changes, the literature wasn’t only subject to change and innovation. In the 19th century, literature, whatever the literary genre or movement, and art, both in its artistic monuments and any of its representations, represent living documents that reflect a way of thinking and propose a model of behavior of the time.
