Abstract
In recent years there has been increasing interest in studying the characteristics of positive autobiographical memories in people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), and it has been observed that certain aspects of these memories are altered in people who have suffered a trauma. Positive autobiographical memory plays an important role in PTSD, but we do not yet know clearly what it is. In an applied setting, there are theoretical models that hypothesize that therapeutic work with positive memories in the setting of PTSD would have specific beneficial effects such as decreasing the severity of posttraumatic symptomatology and, overall, could increase the efficacy and effectiveness of trauma-focused interventions (through, for example, elements such as decreased dropout rates). Specifically, there is very little research on the relationship between positive memories and PTSD in women victims of intimate partner violence (IPV), a type of chronic victimization that carries a high impact on the mental health of the women who experience it...
