Abstract
This master’s degree thesis evaluates the process that led to the European Union - Türkiye Deal (2016), asking if it can be interpreted as a reflection of the process of border outsourcing/externalisation that has now been settled with the New European Pact on Migration and Asylum (2024). The hypothesis posed responds affirmatively to the question. A critical discourse analysis (CDA) has been carried out on the conclusions of the European Council between January 2014 and March 2014, in order to comprehend the road before the signing with Ankara, specifically, regarding how these types of practices and measures are integrated with third countries, and how migration is conceived along this path. Finally, the common points that can be seen between this path and the most recent result are studied.
