Las biografías antiimperialistas de C.L.R. James

Abstract

C.L.R James, intelectual prominente de Trinidad y Tobago y uno de los pensadores marxistas más relevantes del siglo XX, utilizó en varias y afamadas ocasiones el método de análisis biográfico como herramienta de análisis social. A través del estudio de la historia de figuras relevantes de diferentes revoluciones históricas, logró establecer afinados análisis sobre la naturaleza de las clases sociales en determinados contextos, así como de los elementos sociales más relevantes que facilitan que una revolución pueda ser exitosa. En este texto se examinan los contextos e ideas clave de sus obras biográficas, donde se logra un alto -y poco habitual- grado de conexión virtuosa entre las ciencias sociales y la literatura.

C.L.R. James, a prominent intellectual from Trinidad and Tobago and one of the most important Marxist thinkers of the 20th century, used the method of biographical analysis as a tool of social analysis on several and famous occasions. Through the study of the history of relevant figures from different historical revolutions, he managed to establish fine-tuned analyses on the nature of social classes in certain contexts, as well as the most relevant social elements that facilitate the success of a revolution. This text examines the contexts and key ideas of his biographical works, where a high -and unusual- degree of virtuous connection between the social sciences and literature is achieved.
