Abstract
Esta tesis tiene como objeto central de su análisis la situación de las filmotecas en España desde el punto de partida de su creación en el contexto histórico de las políticas culturales hasta nuestros días. Para ello la investigación se afronta abarcando varios aspectos que permiten contextualizar y hacer comprender la importancia de sus funciones y el papel que dichas instituciones ejercen en sus territorios, tanto en sus estrategias de visibilidad, como en la filosofía de su trabajo. El caso español tuvo un tardío reconocimiento institucional debido a su sistema político, que lo dejó al margen de las discusiones y deliberaciones internacionales. En el extranjero la preocupación de la primera etapa para la conservación del cine generó la creación de unas filmotecas que, principalmente, respondían a una tipología basada en el territorio y que derivó en la creación de grandes filmotecas nacionales. La posterior eclosión de nuevas filmotecas atendería a regiones o ciudades de menor tamaño sumado a nuevas tipologías de contenido que enriquecerían el panorama, al mismo tiempo, que abrían una dialéctica sobre la importancia y papel del patrimonio cinematográfico aplicado a la identidad y utilidad de dichos espacios físicos y mentales...
This thesis has as central object of its analysis the situation of the film libraries in Spain from the starting point of their creation in the context historical history of cultural policies up to the present day. To this end, the research is approached by covering several aspects that allow us to contextualize and understand the importance of their functions and the role that these institutions play in their territories, both in their visibility strategies and in the philosophy of their work.The Spanish case had a late institutional recognition due to its political system, which left it on the margins of international discussions and deliberations. Abroad, the concern of the first stage for thefilm conservation led to the creation of film libraries that mainly responded to a typology based on territory, which resulted in the creation of large national film libraries. The subsequent emergence of new film libraries would attend to smaller regions or cities in addition to new typologies of content that would enrich the panorama, while at the same time opening a dialectic on the importance and roll of film heritage applied to the identity and usefulness of these physical and mental spaces...
