Memoria y representación audiovisual de las prácticas travestis, transformistas y drag queens, de los carnavales de Barranquilla, Baranoa, Puerto Colombia y Santo Tomás en el Caribe colombiano

Abstract

Esta investigación se propone el estudio de la representación audiovisual y la reconstrucción de la memoria de las prácticas transformistas masculinas (travestis y drag queens) en los carnavales de Barranquilla, Baranoa, Puerto Colombia y SantoTomás en el Caribe colombiano. Actualmente son reconocidas tres imágenes del transformismo que suelen mezclarse en forma equivocada: sujetos que se travisten cotidianamente participando en desfiles y eventos, sujetos drag queens que se montan al escenario para entretenimiento y sujetos heterosexuales que se transforman en viudas. Entonces ¿cuáles son las practicas transformistas promovidas por parte de las instituciones socio-culturales y políticas y cuales las que han construido los actores y artistas transformistas, travestis y drag queens desde sus propias miradas?La investigación recopila, analiza, documenta y establece lecturas a través de la propia mirada de actores y artistas transformistas, y de sus archivos audiovisuales y visuales.This investigation proposes the study of the audiovisual representation and the reconstruction of the memory of the masculine cross-dressing practices (transvestites and drag queens) in the Carnivals of Barranquilla, Baranoa, Puerto Colombia and SantoTomás in the Colombian Caribbean. Actually we can identify three distinct forms of: subjects that abitually practice cross-dressing and participate in parades and events, drag queens that are dedicated to entertainment, and heterosexual men who disguise themselves as women (widows, showgirls…) during the Carnivals. So, what are the cross-dressing practices that are promoted by the socio-cultural and political institutions? and instead: Which practices and references have been built by the actors and artists of transformation, transvestites and drag queens, from their own perspectives? The investigation collects, analyzes, documents and establishes some interpretation’s keys through the perspective of actors and crossdressing artists and their audiovisual and visual archive
