Las relaciones castellano-aragonesas en tiempos de Juan I de Aragón (1387-1396)

Abstract

El objetivo de la presente tesis es analizar el estado de las relaciones existentes entre las coronas de Aragón y Castilla durante el reinado de Juan I de Aragón (1387-1396), coincidente, a su vez, con los últimos años de Juan I de Castilla y los primeros de Enrique III. En general, los vínculos que mantenían ambas monarquías desde la firma del tratado de paz de Almazán de (1375), eran bastante cordiales. No obstante, como se podrá comprobar, pese a que las relaciones personales entre los respectivos monarcas eran de total familiaridad, no por ello, desaparecieron las desavenencias cotidianas de sus respectivos súbditos. Por lo tanto, situaciones que podían ser fuente constante de conflicto, tales como las discordias fronterizas, la actividad corsaria y la difícil relación de Juan I de Aragón con los maestres de las órdenes militares castellanas, nunca pusieron en riesgo la amistad y familiaridad personal entre los dos soberanos...

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the state of relations between the crowns of Aragon and Castile during the reign of John I of Aragon (1387-1396), coinciding, in turn, with the last years of John I of Castile and the first ones of Henry III. In general, the linksthat held both monarchies since the signing of the peace treaty of Almazan (1375), were quite cordial. However, as we can see, although the personal relationships between the respective monarchs were of total familiarity, not for that reason, the daily disagreements of their respective subjects disappeared. Therefore, situations that could be a constant source of conflict, such as border disputes, privateering and the difficult relationship of John I of Aragón with the masters of the Castilian military orders, never put at risk the friendship and personal familiarity between the two sovereigns...
