Abstract
El ictus isquémico es una de las principales causas de discapacidad en adultos y genera un elevado impacto sociosanitario. La realidad virtual no inmersiva (RVNI) se plantea como una herramienta prometedora en neurorrehabilitación por su accesibilidad, bajo coste y buena tolerancia, especialmente en pacientes mayores o con limitaciones físicas. Este trabajo evaluó la eficacia de un programa de RVNI frente a la terapia ocupacional convencional en pacientes con ictus isquémico crónico de la Arteria Cerebral Media (ACM), así como la capacidad de parámetros neurofisiológicos obtenidos mediante electroencefalografía (EEG) para detectar cambios funcionales. Se diseñó un ensayo clínico aleatorizado, simple ciego, con pacientes en fase crónica de ictus de la arteria cerebral media del hemisferio dominante, comparando un programa estructurado de RVNI con sesiones supervisadas durante siete semanas frente a terapia ocupacional convencional de igual duración e intensidad. Se evaluaron la función motora del miembro superior (escala FM-UE) y variables secundarias como calidad de vida, estado emocional y sobrecarga del cuidador. Ischemic stroke is one of the leading causes of disability in adults and has a substantial socioeconomic and healthcare impact. Non-immersive virtual reality (NIVR) is emerging as a promising tool in neurorehabilitation due to its accessibility, low cost, and good tolerability, particularly in older patients or those with physical limitations.This study evaluated the effectiveness of an NIVR program compared with conventional occupational therapy in patients with chronic ischemic stroke of the middle cerebral artery (MCA), as well as the potential of neurophysiological parameters obtained through electroencephalography (EEG) to detect functional changes. A single-blind, randomized clinical trial was conducted in patients in the chronic phase of dominant-hemisphere MCA stroke, comparing a structured NIVR program with supervised sessions over seven weeks against conventional occupational therapy of equal duration and intensity. Upper limb motor function (FM-UE scale) was assessed, along with secondary outcomes including quality of life, emotional status, and caregiver burden.
