Abstract
The present work is a study on the role of the archivist in public administration in Mexico in two areas of analysis: vocational training and required to fulfill their role in this century profile is paramount, ensuring access to information. Through a review of the educational offer to top level on the one hand and on the other the proper development of the profession and Archivist profile in Mexico. Through a review of the educational offer by universities and government on the one hand, and on the other the profile of the archivist in Mexico. From this brief analysis it is to show education in Mexico on archival, leading us to question whether they are sufficient to carry out its primary function, access to information and thereby ensure the transparency and accountability of government public administration and possibly see the archivist as an information professional, able to develop skills and competensias to perform of their functions; the position of this professional is central, because it is responsible for the intermediation between the institution and the search for information, between the user and the acquis, between the document and the representation of the information derived from government actions.
