Abstract
La investigación clínica en menores, bien sobre medicamentos o cualquier otro objeto de la investigación, resulta necesaria con el fin de obtener evidencia científica que sea específica en esta población. No obstante, estamos ante una población de especial vulnerabilidad y por tanto una investigación sujeta a particularidades y no exenta de numerosas dificultades. Entre éstas encontramos: un número limitado de pacientes afectos de determinadas patologías, la necesidad de desarrollar variables de resultado específicas para este grupo de edad, en muchos casos para cada uno de los distintos subgrupos de la edad pediátrica y la complejidad de hacer partícipes a los padres en la toma de decisiones en relación a la participación de los menores en los estudios...
Research involving children, whether for medicinal products or other investigations, is needed for the generation of specific scientific evidence which is relevant for this population. However, we are dealing with a population of particular vulnerability and, therefore, with research that is not free from a number of difficulties, such as: the limited number of patients affected by certain pathologies, the need to develop specific results for this age group and, in many cases, for each of the different subgroups of pediatric age, and the complexity of involving parents in the decision-making process regarding the participation of minors in studies...
