Ortografía y pronunciación en una serie textual americana del método Ollendorff

Abstract

RESUMEN: Con el objetivo de contribuir a la historia de la fonética española, disciplina descuidada históricamente por los especialistas, las siguientes páginas se ocupan de las descripciones articulatorias y del sistema de notación para representar la ‘pronunciación figurada’ que se encuentran en varios manuales del método Ollendorff que aparecieron en Norteamérica en la primera mitad del siglo XIX y que siguieron publicándose hasta comienzos del siglo XX.

ABSTRACT: This paper is a contribution to the history of Spanish phonetics, a discipline historically neglected by specialists, which deals with articulatory descriptions and the notation system to represent the ‘pronunciación figurada’ found in some handbooks of Ollendorff’s method that were published in North America in the first half of the nineteenth century and that continued to be published until the beginning of the twentieth century.
