Abstract
El aneurisma de aorta abdominal es una patología frecuente y con alta mortalidad. Cuando se encuentra en rango quirúrgico y la anatomía del aneurisma lo permite, se considera de elección la reparación endovascular o EVAR. Tanto en la fisiopatología como durante la cirugía del aneurisma de aorta se ven implicados los fenómenos de estrés oxidativo. Se define estrés oxidativo como una alteración del equilibrio prooxidante-antioxidante a favor de los primeros, que provoca una ruptura del control y señalización fisiológica que normalmente ejerce el sistema redox, conduciendo a un daño molecular. El estrés oxidativo se asocia al desarrollo de múltiples complicaciones, lo que ha llevado a la búsqueda de distintas medidas para reducir su aparición. Los anestésicos inhalados, sevoflurano y desflurano, son los fármacos más empleados para el mantenimiento de la anestesia general durante la cirugía de EVAR. Abdominal aortic aneurysm is a prevalent life-threatening condition. If surgery is indicated and it is anatomically feasible, endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) is recommended. The role of oxidative stress in the development of aortic aneurysm and during EVAR has been described. Oxidative stress is defined as an imbalance of pro-oxidants and antioxidants in favor of the former that leads to potential molecular damage. Oxidative stress is associated with the development of multiple complications. Various pharmacologic agents have been proposed to reduce oxidative stress.
