Abstract
En los albores del Siglo XXI las Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación han impactado grandemente los servicios de información en las bibliotecas universitarias, lo que ha ocasionado que en éstas se sumen otras opciones que abran un abanico de posibilidades dirigidos especialmente en el servicio de referencia virtual. El objetivo de la presente ponencia aborda fundamentalmente el perfil con el que debe contar el actual referencista del Siglo XXI, así como, los retos, oportunidades y desafíos a los que se enfrenta día a día al brindar este servicio a través del uso de redes sociales. Asimismo, en el trabajo también se contemplan la revisión de portales web en bibliotecas universitarias en donde se incluyen algunos ejemplos de redes sociales que han sido utilizadas más frecuentemente para brindar servicios de referencia basados esencialmente en facebook, twitter y second life, etc.
En este sentido, es importante conocer la forma en la que están siendo usadas estas redes sociales y de la manera en la que el referencista está aprovechando este medio de comunicación para interactuar con los usuarios que solicitan búsquedas generales, o bien, de carácter especializadas las cuales son localizadas a través de escenarios y recursos de información que permitan apoyar las consultas y seguir siendo una de las alternativas para dar respuesta de manera rápida y oportuna para satisfacer las demandas formativas e informativas de los usuarios que lo soliciten.
In the twenty-first century the Information and Communication Technologies have significantly impacted the information services in university libraries, which has resulted in these other options open up a range of possibilities aimed specifically at the virtual reference service to join. The aim of this paper primarily addresses the profile you must have the current reference librarian of the XXI Century, as well as the challenges, opportunities and challenges faced day to day by providing this service through the use of social networks. Likewise, in the work also there is contemplated the review of web portals in university libraries where there are included some examples of social networks that have been used more frequently to offer services of reference based essentially on Facebook and Twitter. In this regard, it is important to know the form in which these social networks are being used and of the way in which the referencista is taking advantage of this way of communication to interact with the users who request general searches, or, of character specialized which are located through scenarios and information resources in order to support queries and remain one of the alternatives to respond quickly and timely manner to meet the educational and informational needs of users who request it.
