Abstract
Breast cancer is the most frequent neoplasm and the main cause of cancer mortality in the female population. Medical care for these patients involves a considerable investment of both human and financial resources. Patients with breast cancer and pathogenic variants in BRCA1/2 experience an increased risk of developing second breast neoplasms. The identification and counselling of these patients in the hereditary cancer units makes it possible to adapt their treatment and follow-up in accordance with their level of risk. Evaluating the costs of preventive measures for breast cancer, such as prophylactic breast surgery, in a context of limited economic resources, as well as knowing the experience of the patients who are treated in these Units, emerge as relevant factors to optimize the efficiency of health care resources and adapting care to the specific needs of this population...
