Las «Vidas» de Juana de la Cruz de Antonio Daza: edición crítica

Abstract

La tesis Las «Vidas» de Juana de la Cruz de Antonio Daza: edición crítica, como su nombre indica, es la edición crítica de la biografía que el fraile y cronista franciscano Antonio Daza compone por primera vez en 1610 de la santa viva Juana de la Cruz, terciaria de su Orden que vivió entre 1481 y 1534, y que reelaboró en 1613. Convertida en éxito editorial y con variaciones muy significativas entre sus dos ediciones, esta hagiografía responderá al nuevo impulso que la causa de la canonización de Juana recibe a principios del siglo XVII. El presente trabajo ofrece una edición del texto de Daza que atiende a varios niveles de lectura, poniéndola a disposición tanto de especialistas como de un público amplio. Asimismo, se analizan en él las supresiones, adiciones y modificaciones del texto de Daza en sus sucesivas ediciones y se estudia la relación que estas presentan con el contexto histórico, religioso, social y editorial postridentino. Además de la biografía que el fraile franciscano escribe de la monja terciaria de Santa María de la Cruz, se tienen en cuenta otras semblanzas de la sierva de Dios publicadas en el Catálogo de Santas Vivas, así como la bibliografía secundaria que existe sobre Juana, sobre Daza y sobre las épocas en los que viven una y otro, haciendo especial hincapié en el rico y complejo periodo de la Contrarreforma...

The thesis The «Lifes» of Juana de la Cruz by Antonio Daza: critical edition, as its name indicates, is the critical edition of the biography Franciscan friar and chronicler Antonio Daza first composed in 1610 of the living saint Juana de la Cruz, a tertiary of his Order who lived between 1481 and 1534, and reworked in 1613. Furthermore, the deletions, additions and modifications of Daza's text in its successive editions are analyzed and the relationship they present with the post-Tridentine historical, religious, social and editorial context is studied. In addition to the biography that the Franciscan friar writes of the tertiary nun of Santa María de la Cruz, other profiles of the servant of God published in the Catalog of Santas Vivas are considered, as well as the secondary bibliography that exists about Juana, about Daza and about the times in which they live, placing special emphasis on the rich and complex period of the Counter-Reformation...
