Abstract
This document describes the analysis of the burned areas by remote sensing caused by the large forest fires (GIF) in Galicia in 2017 and the development of the cartographic viewer that includes the layers generated in this analysis. In a first phase, this research presents the methods for the delimitation of the affected area and the calculations of the vegetation indices (NDVI and NBR). In a second phase, an analysis of the severity of GIFs is carried out and the cartography of the burned areas is generated. In a third phase, the recovery of the vegetation from the occurrence of the fire until 2020 is analysed. Finally, the affected coverage is determined using the SIOSE database. The methodology has been developed and described for a fire as an example and later it has been repeated for other areas of GIF, being implemented with the Model Builder tool in order to automate the analysis procedure. As a result of the work, the cartographic viewer is developed through the ArcGIS Online tool and all the layers obtained in the previous analysis are presented interactively and visually. Galicia is the region most affected by GIFs in Spain, this makes it very interesting and useful as an area of interest in this work. On the other hand, the viewer has been implemented having in mind its use in future research on forest fires in other regions.
