En beneficio de la christiandad. La liberación de cautivos en tiempos de los Reyes Católicos (1474-1504)

Abstract

Esta investigación titulada “En beneficio de la Christiandad. La liberación de cautivos en tiempos de los Reyes Católicos (1474-1504)” tiene como objetivo principal el estudio de la cautividad cristiana en el reino nazarí de Granada durante el reinado de los Reyes Católicos (1474-1504). Para ello, se ha planteado un análisis sobre el fenómeno del cautiverio desgranando en cada capítulo el recorrido que un cautivo realizaría desde que era apresado hasta su liberación. Se comienza con un estado de la cuestión acerca de los estudios principales y más actuales publicados respecto a esta temática. Posteriormente se plantea una introducción general, marco para poner en contexto la realidad histórica y política habida tras la llegada y establecimiento del islam en la península Ibérica en el siglo VIII y el inicio de las luchas entre éstos y los cristianos, destacando para estudio los llevados a cabo por la corona de Casilla, para conseguir la recuperación de dichos territorios. La consecuencia de estos enfrentamientos bélicos fue la cautividad de un gran número de cristianos. Tras su llegada a tierras musulmanas, éstos debieron adaptarse a unas nuevas condiciones de vida, mientras que en tierras cristianas se establecían los mecanismos para su redención, tanto a nivel global, como era el establecimiento de una legislación que los amparase, así como la labor realizada tanto por los propios reyes como por la iglesia, para pasar a otro más local, basado en las actividades promovidas por concejos, ayuntamientos y acciones personales. Una vez acordada la liberación, que podía ser realizada mediante distintas vías, los ahora excautivos volvían nuevamente a su hogar, encontrando en la documentación perfiles biográficos muy variados en cuanto a las vivencias habidas durante su tiempo en cautividad...The main objective of this research, titled “Fort he benefit of Christianity. Christian captivity in the times of the Catholic Monarchs (1474-1504)” is to study christian captivity in the nasrid kingdom of Granada during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs (1474-1504). To this end, an analysis of the phenomenon of captivity has been proposed, detailing in each chapter the journey that a captive would take from the moment he was captured until his release.It begins with a status of the issue regarding the main and most recent studies published on this subject. Subsequently, a general introduction is proposed to put into context the historical and political reality that occurred after the arrival and establishment of islam in the iberian Peninsula in the 8th century and the beginning of the struggles between muslims and christians, highlighting for study those carried out by the kingdom of Castile, to achieve the recovery of these territories. The consequence of these warlike confrontations was the captivity of a large number of christians. After their arrival in muslim lands, they had to adapt to new living conditions, while in christian lands the mechanisms for their redemption were established, both at a global level, such as the establishment of legislation that protected them as well as the work carried out by both the kings themselves and the church, to move on to a more local level, based on the activities promoted by councils, town halls and personal actions. Once the release was agreed, which could be carried out through different means, the now ex-captives returned to their home, finding in the documentation very varied biographical profiles regarding the experiences they had during their time in captivity...
