Abstract
El cáncer de mama (CM) es el tumor más frecuente y la principal causa de muerte por cáncer en mujeres a nivel mundial (1). Optimizar los tratamientos, minimizando la morbilidad sin un impacto negativo en los resultados oncológicos, es un objetivo esencial considerando la elevada prevalencia de esta enfermedad. Los avances diagnósticos, el desarrollo de los tratamientos y el conocimiento del comportamiento biológico del CM han impulsado un giro radical en su manejo terapéutico, en el que el abordaje multidisciplinar es indispensable para el control locoregional y a distancia de esta enfermedad. En consecuencia, es posible realizar cirugías cada vez más conservadoras, que se completan con tratamientos adyuvantes como la radioterapia y las terapias sistémicas, preservando la anatomía y la funcionalidad, con el consecuente impacto positivo en la calidad de vida sin comprometer los resultados de supervivencia...
