Abstract
This PhD Thesis entitled Luminescent Complexes of Transition Metals Derived from Nucleobases studies the synthesis and properties of metal complexes derived from nucleobases, nucleosides and nucleotides. In these complexes, the metal has been incorporated into de nucleobase skeleton through a M-C bond. This combination is interesting since it allows to obtain structures with different reactivity and properties, which can result in applications on diverse fields, such as new materials or drugs (radiomarkers and luminescent labels). The main objectives of this Thesis consist of the use of nucleobases, nucleosides and nucleotides derived from 6-fenilpurine as scaffold for the design of a new class of organometallic complexes and the study of their properties. In this way, different methodologies have been developed to prepare metalanucleobases with luminescent properties. This Doctoral Thesis is divided in seven chapters. Chapter I summarizes the most relevant aspects of the combination of transition metals with nucleobases, as well as the study of reactivity and synthetic methodologies for this type of compounds. Also, the general objectives of this Thesis are incorporated in this chapter...
