Abstract
This paper aims to conduct a description as accurate as possible of the concept of "structure of thought" as it has been developed by André de Muralt along his philosophical studies. We chose this concept because it contains an entirely original instrument of analysis and interpretation which is at the center of the muraltian interpretation of philosophical activity. André de Muralt was busy throughout his work with each and every one of the main problems of philosophy, and if among them we have chosen the notion of "structure of thought" it is because around it its author has developed an original method of analysis and interpretation of both the philosophical problems themselves and the various doctrines that historically have tried to answer them. With regard to the latter aspect, the hermeneutical method based on the notion of "structure of thought" provides significant results in the understanding of any philosophical doctrine. We are used to see how each philosopher interprets the contributions of those who preceded him, if not the entire history of philosophy, from its own point of view. It is less common, however, to attend an a serious philosophical effort to understand the various doctrines from the specific perspective of each one, that is, not only to understand what each doctrine says, but do it from their own principles. From this perspective, one must admit that if the inter-doctrinal discussion plays a role in the development of philosophical knowledge, it is important that this discussion – in order to be a true dialogue and not a succession of monologues - have a methodological tool that allows understanding what the various doctrines mean, not just what our doctrine makes them say. This method, then, to the extent that has as main objective to understand the philosophical doctrines from the characteristics of each perspective (for which it relies on the induction of the specific "structures of thought"), looks like this as an appropriate instrument to promote the doctrinal debate in philosophy...
