Abstract
The prevalence of myopia has increased in recent years, which has encouraged researchers to develop treatments to slow myopia progression, including soft peripheral defocus contact lenses (PDCL). These lenses, based on the theory of peripheral defocus, have been proven to be effective, although the mechanism by which this effect is achieved is not exactly known. In order to evaluate and compare their characteristics, three main studies were conducted at the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Minho (Braga, Portugal), analyzing a total of 16 contact lenses (10 PDCLs, 4 single vision lenses, and 2 multifocal lenses)...
