Abstract
An absentee in the posthuman era: the contemporary body and its representation in the digital space addresses the modification of the body and its condensed signs through semiotic analysis, in conjunction with other philosophical and social theories, by reviewing contemporary artistic practices and cultural events. The concept of the «clothed body», formulated by Patriza Calefato, is a cornerstone of this research, as it allows us to observe and translate our aesthetic experience as a relational link with others in the connection and construction of our image on the internet. It is possible to affirm that we no longer need to be in a specific place or time to experience something or for another person to interact with us. There presentation of the contemporary body allows us to disappear, to not bepresent and still continue existing. Therefore, we are posthumans: individuals who create their own nature to break their limitations and the boundaries imposed by the outside world thanks to digital virtual environments.
