dc.descriptionThe Alfonsine scientific production represents the largest and most cohesive corpus of texts of the cultural project promoted by Alfonso X (1221-1284). An unparalleled initiative within the European courts, but with strong links to the Islamic cultural context. By studying these works, we can delve deeper into the sources used by the Alfonsine teams and the complex working structure developed at the royal scriptorium. Among the sources utilized to create these works, those of Islamic origin particularly stand out, serving as fundamental tools for understanding both the contributions and innovations that arose in astronomical studies as well as the representation of the constellations. In this work we can determine how the Alfonsine teams involved in the scientific workshop were able to combine elements from different cultural traditions with exceptional creativity and generate their own iconic models.
dc.description.abstractLa producción científica alfonsí representa el corpus de textos más amplio y cohesionado del proyecto cultural impulsado por Alfonso X, una iniciativa que no encuentra paragón en otras cortes europeas y que sin embargo conecta con los intereses del contexto cultural islámico. A partir de su estudio se puede profundizar en las fuentes utilizadas y en la compleja estructura de trabajo desarrollada en el escritorio regio. Destacan las fuentes de procedencia islámica, fundamentales para entender las aportaciones y novedades que surgieron en los estudios astronómicos y en la manera de representar las constelaciones. En este trabajo podremos ver cómo los equipos alfonsíes supieron conjugar con excepcional creatividad elementos procedentes de tradiciones culturales distintas y generar modelos icónicos propios.
