Códices iluminados de la Casa Ducal de Pastrana. Títulos de nobleza (siglos XVII-XX)

Abstract

Análisis de las iluminaciones de ocho códices correspondientes a otros tantos títulos de nobleza que posee la Casa Ducal de Pastrana. Constituyen un importante fondo no solo por su número, unidad temática y proceder de un mismo archivo nobiliario, sino también por su contenido icónico y estético de notable calidad artística. Se estudian en detalle las iluminaciones que contienen cada uno de estos manuscritos, elaborados la mayoría en el siglo XIX, periodo cronológico después del reinado de Fernando VII sobre el que poco se sabe respecto a la iluminación de códicesAnalysis of the illuminations of eight codices corresponding to eight titles of nobility held by the Ducal House of Pastrana. Their quantity, thematic unity, and the fact that they originate in the archives of the same noble house make them an outstanding example, as does the artistic quality of their aesthetic content. The present study provides a thorough analysis of every illumination in these manuscripts. Most date back to the 19th century, after the reign of Fernando VII, a period from which little is known regarding the illumination of manuscripts.
