La hibridación entre el dibujo y la fotografía como práctica artística interdisciplinar contemporánea

Abstract

Esta tesis doctoral consiste en un estudio de los paralelismos y sinergias entre los medios de la fotografía y el dibujo como forma de ilustrar la idea central de esta investigación que consiste en demostrar que la superficie fotosensible es un soporte muy consolidado para la realización de dibujos híbridos, como practica artística contemporánea. Se argumenta que la utilización de la emulsión fotográfica, como soporte y elemento integral para el dibujo en la creación de imágenes, forma parte de una práctica artística diferenciada que se lleva utilizando, desde las últimas seis décadas, en múltiples actuaciones interdisciplinares en el dibujo contemporáneo. En esta investigación se analizan el dibujo y fotografía como medios artísticos, que, con distintos orígenes y longevidad, se han consolidado a lo largo de la historia del arte, compartiendo elementos comunes tales como el soporte limitado del papel y la superficie foto sensitiva, la conexión con la superficie donde se representa la imagen, la marca y el contexto, generando imágenes que son importantes para una experiencia de temporalidad. Se realiza un estudio histórico, desde finales del siglo XIX, para comprobar cómo el medio fotográfico va evolucionando de ser en una herramienta de trabajo útil para muchos pintores, como elemento de bocetaje y estudio, para generar imágenes de referencia en la realización de obras acabadas a pasar a ser un medio experimentalmente autónomo. También se comprueba que en el siglo XX es cuando el medio dinámico de la fotografía se relaciona abiertamente con medios más estáticos como el dibujo, la pintura y la escultura, trayendo a las bellas artes una explicación en el tiempo de la cuarta dimensión...

This doctoral thesis consists of a study of the parallels and synergies between the media of photography and drawing as a way of illustrating the central idea of this research, which consists of demonstrating that the photosensitive surface is a very consolidated support for the realization of hybrid drawings, as a contemporary artistic practice. It is argued that the use of photographic emulsion, as a support and integral element for drawing in the creation of images, is part of a differentiated artistic practice that has been used, since the last six decades, in multiple interdisciplinary actions in contemporary drawing.This research analyzes drawing and photography as artistic media, which, with different origins and longevity, have been consolidated throughout the history of art, sharing common elements such as the limited support of paper and the photosensitive surface, the connection with the surface where the image is represented, the brand and the context, generating images that are important for an experience of temporality.A historical study is carried out, from the end of the nineteenth century, to see how the photographic medium is evolving from being a useful working tool for many painters, as an element of sketching and study, to generating reference images in the realization of finished works to become an experimentally autonomous medium. It is also found that it is in the twentieth century that the dynamic medium of photography is openly related to more static media such as drawing, painting and sculpture, bringing to the fine arts an explanation in time of the fourth dimension...
