Abstract
Sebaceous neoplasms are adnexal skin tumors predominantly located in head and neck areas of elderly patients. Sebaceous adenoma and sebaceoma are benign neoplasms that do not recur after complete excision. Sebaceous carcinoma may be have aggressively, with rates of recurrence, nodal metastases and distant metastases of 4-28%, 1.3-12% and 2-10%, respectively. Cancer-specific mortality has much lower rates in recent years, between 3% and 6.7%, thanks to earlier diagnosisand treatment. Little is known about molecular alterations of sebaceous neoplasms. They may be related to Muir-Torre syndrome, a subset of the hereditary non-polyposis colorectal carcinoma syndrome or Lynch syndrome. In addition to sebaceous tumors, these patients may develop visceral neoplasms, being colorectal carcinoma the most frequent...
