Abstract
Monomeric ATP synthases exhibit a preference for curved lipid filaments. The curvatureseeking behavior relies on the membrane-mediated attractive interaction between rotating ATP synthases. As a result, conic-like transient dimers produce a dynamic coupling between protein shape and membrane curvature. The observed active curvature sorting suggests a new role for the rotational movement ATP synthases and their dynamic self-assembly. More details can be found in article number 2301606 by Víctor G. Almendro-Vedia, Iván López-Montero, and co-workers.
